Naniwa Danshi’s Asymmetry

Carrying the dark theme of “Black Nightmare,“ “Asymmetry“ from Naniwa Danshi’s 9th single Asymmetry/Black Nightmare is a classic dance track with drama etched into its every beat!

“Asymmetry” is the theme song for the Kazuya Ohashi starring romantic comedy drama “Revenge Spy”, airing every Saturday at 11:00PM JST on TV Asahi.

While “Black Nightmare” is a slightly different cool dance track compared to Naniwa Danshi’s past releases, yet “Asymmetry” is a little different. A bittersweet love song that has this unique catchiness to it that will grab the listener’s heart from the very first listen! The music video shows the themes of distorted feelings of a wandering heart found in the song through the use of light and shadow. The jazzy yet fast-paced choreography that’s so beautifully orchestrated is a treat to the eyes!

About the choreography, Kazuya said, “There are scenes that make it look like we are fighting with each other or with ourselves. The dance itself is very story-driven, that’s why I really want everyone to take a look at it.”

The music video features rather classic dark prince-like outfits. Just like “Black Nightmare,” Naniwa Danshi appears in the music video in two different outfits in “Asymmetry.” One being the classic prince-like outfit in all black with lots of silver accessories, another is a simple casual outfit in beige. It’s almost as if the theme of light and shadow is also shown through the outfits as well. Both outfits compliment Naniwa Danshi’s youthful visuals, taking it to the next level.

All in all, “Asymmetry“ is a bittersweet love song that’s also a classic dance track. The combination of love and suppressed emotions through complex dance beats paired with a choreography that tells a story on its own is a new addition to Naniwa Danshi’s list of amazing discography.
