STARTO artist Kento Nakajima will release his third single, “Onigoto / Fiction Love” (鬼事 / Fiction Love), on August 19. Featuring the opening theme for season 2 of the anime “The Elusive Samurai” (Nigejozu no Wakagimi / 逃げ上手の若君), this is Kento’s first solo double A-side single.
“Onigoto” (鬼事), which Kento himself had a hand in writing, expresses the feelings of Elusive Samurai protagonist Hojo Tokiyuki—his determination to keep fighting in order to change his fate into the future he desires, no matter what challenges await him. Blending a simple yet elegant pop sound with Kento’s signature charm, “Onigoto” captures the image of racing brilliantly through a changing era.
“The Elusive Samurai” Season 2 will air on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block every Friday at 11:30 p.m. (JST) beginning July 17. Unlimited streaming will be available on Prime Video immediately after broadcast.
The other title track, “Fiction Love,” is the official theme for Kento‘s starring film “Love Not Comedy” (ラブ≠コメディ), which opened in Japanese theaters on July 3. The song tells a unique fantasy: “What if actors in a television drama fell in love with each other even after stepping out of their roles?” The composition portrays the narrator being swept up by every unpredictable gesture and action of the person they love, blending those emotions into a fictional world where it’s impossible to tell where lies end and truth begins. Listeners are encouraged to pay close attention to the lyrics, which are sprinkled with filmmaking terminology to match the movie’s premise.
