ABOUT TRAVIS JAPAN
Travis Japan is a dynamic seven-member dance and pop sensation from Tokyo, blending modern, jazz, and hip-hop into electrifying performances. Formed in 2012 with guidance from legendary choreographer Travis Payne (known for work with Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga), the group has soared to acclaim in Japan and beyond. They’ve headlined their annual Japanesque spectacle TORA JA -NINJAPAN- and sold out three consecutive shows at Yokohama Arena (17,000 capacity) in 2020, followed by a 12-city national tour in 2021.
Their precision-driven dance routines and infectious pop sound caught global attention after appearing on World of Dance and America’s Got Talent, leading to a 2022 signing with Capitol Records/UMG. Their debut single, “JUST DANCE!”, made history as the first by a Japanese act to crack the Top 5 on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, surpassing 10 million views.
In 2023, their debut album “Road To A” (symbolizing their quest for authenticity) showcased their artistic identity. By 2024, singles “T.G.I. Friday Night” and “Sweetest Tune” dominated Billboard Japan’s charts, both hitting No.1 on the Download Songs chart and No.2 on the HOT 100. That year, they embarked on their “Road to Authenticity” nationwide arena tour and launched a sold-out six-city world tour, cementing their international appeal.
In December 2024, they dropped their sophomore album ‘VIIsual’, featuring their 2024 chart-toppers alongside the bold new single “B.O.$.$.Y”. The release capped a landmark year, proving Travis Japan’s unstoppable momentum as they redefine global pop with high-octane performances and genre-blurring creativity.
These are just a few selected events out of many that Travis Japan has done in their years together—before and after their debut. With tigers as their representing motif—based on the Japanese writing of TraJa;トラジャ, where tora;トラ means tiger—Travis Japan has earned their stripes.
So, who are the seven individuals that make up this dynamic group? With three out of seven members named Kaito, it’s not easy to figure out who’s who in the beginning. Each member brings something special to the team.
Let’s take a closer look at the unique tigers and their personalities and talents that define Travis Japan and make them such an unforgettable force in the world of entertainment. Dumpling Box wrote an exclusive, in-depth member introduction piece to go with this tour!
