With their fourth studio release, J-POP’s sparkliest princes of pop—Naniwa Danshi—have officially set sail—and BON BON VOYAGE might just be their brightest, boldest album yet.

From the jump, “The Greatest Voyage” sets the scene like the first gust of summer wind—breezy pop-rock, radiant vocals, and that wide-open, oceanic optimism only Naniwa Danshi can pull off. They double down on the wanderlust with the high-octane follow-up, “Over The Horizon!“, which absolutely deserves its own anime opening sequence. (Someone make that happen, please.)
And then: we hit peak summer.
The sun-drenched disco fever dream that is “Gira Gira Summer” has already landed in a ROUND1 commercial, and for good reason. It’s upbeat, infectious, and sparkles harder than a soda can under the sun.
But the ride doesn’t slow down. “Doki it” (a personal favorite) throws a gritty rock pulse into their glitter-pop DNA, and it’s thrilling. There’s a confidence in this track that feels defining—like a declaration of who they are right now.
And just when the party’s revving into full gear, the boys take us into the neon-lit fast lane. “Thrill Drive” is a late-night disco joyride, sleek and sexy. Then, the lights go up—and “Circus Night” starts. It’s chaos in the best way possible, capturing that perfect mix of “one more song” and “we’re not ready to go home.”
Things soften with the glittering melancholy of “Oborete Ai” (Drowning in Love), a shimmering piece of city pop where heartbreak feels like falling under a spell. But Naniwa Danshi never stray too far from their roots. “moshimo” is gentle and sweet—a candy-coated sigh of nostalgia that reminds us they’re still the boys we first fell for.
“Yuuwaku DANCE” gives us just the right amount of flirtation and flair, while “Because I just love you” keeps the emotional current steady before flowing into “Koisuru Hikari“—the glowing love theme from We Don’t Know Love Yet (and yes, it stars Naniwa’s own Ryusei Onishi).
But the moment for me?
“H.E.L.L.O”. This one’s special. With its soft synths and stunning vocals, it’s one of their most emotionally grounded—and technically beautiful—songs to date. Honestly? Album highlight.
Then we hit the true sentimental peak: “Arigato Kokoro kara“. It’s sincere, heartfelt, and when they sing “Thank you from the bottom of my heart“? You believe them.
And for longtime fans—or anime lovers—the inclusion of their debut digital single, “Yuuki100%” from Nintama Rantaro the Movie is a nostalgic wink.
✦ Unit Tracks (Limited Edition 2 Only)
As always, Naniwa Danshi keep things spicy with their unit tracks—and this time they’re taking us on some wild detours.
- “Devil or Angel” (Mitchy + Kyohei): Sultry. Theatrical. Just a little BL-coded. Mitchy plays a mischievous angel, Kyohei’s the devil with all the charm, and I need someone to greenlight a drama based on this song. Yesterday.
- “TOYSTYLE” (Ryusei + Nagao): Pure chaos wrapped in a candy-colored hip-hop wrapper. The MV? Bonkers. Bright, bratty, and so much fun.
- “Adulty” (Nishihata, Fujiwara, Ohashi): A grown-up groove with disco glitz and one very steamy shower scene. Nishihata dripping wet is a moment.

🎀 Final Thoughts
Look—I won’t lie. I am biased. Naniwa Danshi were my STARTO gateway group. But BON BON VOYAGE is undeniably a top-tier idol album.
Every track feels polished and purposeful. There’s no filler—just a technicolor map of who they’ve been, who they are, and where they’re headed next.
And wherever that is? I’m already on board.
Stay seated for a colorful adventure like no other, as there will be more Naniwa Danshi coming your way!
